AR Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em
I worked as the lead game designer and art & animation director for Aura Interactive to build this handheld AR Rock’Em Sock’Em game for Mattel and Qualcomm.
During Dr. Paul Jacobs’ keynote at Uplinq 2010, Mattel’s Peter Marx, highlighted the potential of AR to bring new ways to play with iconic Mattel brands, such as Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em.

ARhrrrr
ARhrrrr is an augmented reality shooter for mobile camera-phones, created at Georgia Tech Augmented Environments Lab and the Interactive Design & Game Development department at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD-Atlanta). The phone provides a window into a 3D town overrun with zombies. Point the camera at our special game map to mix virtual and real world content. Civilians are trapped in the town, and must escape before the zombies eat them! From your vantage point in a helicopter overhead, you must shoot the zombies to clear the path for the civilians to get out. Watch out though as the zombies will fight back, throwing bloody organs to bring down your copter. Move the phone quickly to dodge them. You can also use Skittles as tangible inputs to the game, placing one on the board and shooting it to trigger an explosion.

Lost in the City
The protagonist of the game is a little alien from an unknown planet. Through some unexplained accident he lands headfirst on the city street. As he sits on the corner, he quickly looks in all directions several times trying to get a grasp this unfamiliar environment. Confused and frightened, he suddenly realizes that his hunger has overcome all other feelings. He is a smart yet timid character, and as an alien he possesses many special abilities which will help him to get around without catching attention from humans. His immediate goal is to find food while staying away from humans’ attention and his long term goal is to recover a missing computer chip for his spaceship so he can get back home.

Journey to the West
This game is based on the characters from the mythological Chinese novel, “Journey to the West”, which was written in the 1500’s during the Ming Dynasty based on traditional folktales. Consisting of 100 chapters, this fantasy relates the adventures of a Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.) priest San-Zang and his three disciples, the Monkey, the Pig, and the River Monster, as they travel west in search of the holy Buddhist scriptures from India. In the 100 chapters, the team overcomes 81 calamities and confrontations in the form of supernatural phenomena and monsters before reaching their goal and returning to China with the scriptures. “Journey to the West” is one of the most popular and beloved stories in Asia, and it is to the Chinese what the Wizard of Oz is to Americans. I have always been fascinated by the plot and characters in “Journey to the West” since I was a child, and it is my dream to give this 500 years old ancient Chinese story a brand new life in the form of modern video game.
